Dr. Mike Porritt has 30 years of international experience in all types of unique academic on-campus housing environments as well as the third-party investment and development arena in the US, Canada, and beyond. Dr. Porritt started Scion Group's Advisory office in Canada 6 years ago and now branches into several other countries. In his campus housing career before Scion his work included the development of academic integration programs within residential programs at McGill University (Quebec), Trent University (Ontario), Winona State University (Minnesota) and Appalachian State University (North Carolina) along with the other responsibilities of leading campus housing operations and growing capacity.

In this REX Talk, Porritt will offer uncanny observations of the industry. Specifically, Porritt says cities, and developers/investors are missing key student demographic shifts including the difference between college and university markets, design concept opportunities to make more affordable housing with at least the same revenue, and the need for more by-law enforcement by cities in houses for safety and the good of the market on and off campus.
