Young announced himself to the nation as a superstar on the rise, going 16-28 passing, with 180 yards and a touchdown, while running 21 times for 192 yards and four other TDs. He led Texas down the field for a game-winning field goal that gave the Longhorns a 38-37 victory, and set the table for their national title run in 2005.
