I got the "wild" idea to cycle Texas on my fatbike from the northwest corner to the southeast corner and see what kind of adventure it would be. Almost everyone who cycles across Texas rides east to west or reverse on the Southern Tier route or the R.A.T. (Race Across Texas) route. I haven't been able to find where someone rode this direction. Not that they haven't, I just haven't found where it's documented that anyone has. The route I've mapped out covers a little over 1,000 miles or 1,609 km. Traveling fully self-contained the idea is to stealth camp as much as possible and stay in a motel only when my battery banks and camera batteries need to be recharged. Of course, a shower and washing clothes would be nice by then too! I'm not taking the shortest route possible. I'm staying a little farther west to avoid the large cities and the congestion that goes with them. I hope you will join me for this grand adventure and see if I can actually ride to the confluence of the Rio Grande and the Gulf of Mexico. I really don't know if I can.
