Fix update KB5044380 failed to install in Windows 11 23H2 or 22H2.

Follow the steps to fix it:
Method-1: Install the update from Microsoft update catalog

• Navigate to https://www.catalog.update.microsoft....

• You can see 4 or more files. Locate the one supporting your computer.
• For doing this, click on Start.
• Click Settings.
• Go to System.
• Scroll down and click on About.
• Check System type.
• Mine is x64-based operating system.
• So, I will download the file for x64-bit file. Check yours.
• Click on Download.
• Click on this link.
• Go to the folder where the update is located.
• Right-click on the standalone file and click Open.

Method-2: Run Windows update troubleshooter

• Click on Start.
• Select Settings.
• Click on System.
• Click on Troubleshoot.
• Select Other troubleshooters.
• Find Windows update and click on Run.
• Allow the process to complete.
• Follow the suggestions.
• Restart your PC.

Method-3: Reset Windows update components

• Extract the file.
• Right click on Portable.zip and select Extract all.
• Then, right click on wureset.exe.
• Select Run as administrator.
• Command prompt will appear, follow the recommended steps.
• After the reset process is completed, again hit the Enter key to restart the computer.

Method-4: Remove external devices

Remove any external storage devices and drives, joystick, docks, and other hardware plugged into your computer. Then try to install the update again and see if this settled your issue.

Method-5: Run SFC and DISM tools

• Click on Start.
• Type cmd.
• Choose Run as administrator.
• Type SFC /SCANNOW and hit Enter.
• Allow the command to finish running.
• Next, run DISM Command line tools.
• Type one by one:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
• and hit Enter each time.
• Finally, restart your PC and check if KB is successfully installed.
