3 hour drive becomes a 2 day epic adventure!

We didn't know what we were getting into. We hadn't planned on be in the mountains overnight. We had only planned a 3 hour drive. Sometimes adventure finds you!

The lure of: what's around the corner? What's over that next hill? Was more than we could resist. So when the three hour drive we planned was over -- we had to see what was next. So explore we did! And wonders awaited over the next mountain that we would never have experienced if we had not gone on....

Beartooth Highway:
Since it's opening in 1937, people have come from around the world to experience the Beartooth Highway, a National Scenic Byways All American Road. The highest elevation highway in the northern Rockies, it winds through over a million acres of pristine wilderness and alpine mountains in Wyoming and Montana.

Island Lake Campground in the Shoshone National Forest. 9,600 feet in elevation on lake surrounded by breathtaking alpine mountains.
