About the plot of Gasparone: In Syracuse, Sicily, the local "podestà", Nasoni, is busy searching for the notorious robber Gasparone who is said to haunt the area. At the same time, he tries to marry his son to the young widowed Countess Carlotta, who is about to inherit a large fortune. Enter a mysterious stranger named Erminio, who saves Carlotta from an attack on her carriage, makes love to her and then does something rather disconcerting ....
