Today's focus: BEWARE: NO MAN IS INFALLIBLE - Reflection on Genesis Chapter 3 - The serpent beguiled me...."
INTRODUCTION
[Genesis 3:9-13 KJV
[9] And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? [10] And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. [11] And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? [12] And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. [13] And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."
The serpent beguiled or deceived Eve and she fell with her husband. This underscores the fact that any man can still be deceived and that a Christian can still fall.
2 Corinthians 11:2-3 KJV
'[2] For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. [3] But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
Jesus Christ said in the last days the very elects might be deceived.
Matthew 24:24 KJV
"[24] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. "
Apostle Paul seconded this that "Those who had been once enlightened and have tasted the good word of life and have become partakers of heavenly gifts can still fall away.
Hebrews 6:4-6 KJV
"[4] For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [5] and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, [6] if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."
Paul said he himself takes herd to his doctrines lest after preaching the word of God he would be a cast away.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 KJV
"[24] Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. [25] And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. [26] I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: [27] but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
All these scriptures defeat the fallacy of "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"
The Bible teaches that a believer can lose his salvation if he d0oesn't continue taking heed to his life.
Judas was once a partaker of the gospel and he even preached and cast out demons when Jesus sent all his disciples out "two by two" so also did Demas but they still lost out. All these show that salvation can be lost.
