On April 20th, 1992, during Freddie Mercury tribute concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, David Bowie surprised not only 72,000 spectator but nearly one billion viewers when he kneeled down and recited the Lord Prayer:
“Our Father, who art in Heaven…”
After a quick initial shock, a majority of spectators and viewers, who get in Wembley's or in front of their TVs to celebrate Freddie Mercury passing but also to support victims of AIDS indeed join with Bowie in what was probably the most intense prayer the world ever knew.
In an interview, David Bowie later explained that he took the decision to do the Lord's prayer only five minutes before going on stage, for a friend who had AIDS and finally died two days after the show..

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
