Nearly eight out of ten (78 per cent) employees in the UK would consider going back to work before they were totally recovered from illness, a new study has found.

The new stats from Aviva reveal that almost seven in ten (68 per cent) said family finances were their key concern whilst off work. Nearly a third (29 per cent) said home repayments were their focus.

Just over one in ten (11 per cent) feared that theyd join the numbers out of work if they didnt go back to their job ahead of schedule.

However, one fifth (22 per cent) said that they would never risk their health for their jobs, but by doing that they could face financial problems and require a debt management plan in the long term.

Kevin Still, director of Atlantic Financial Management, says: "It is easy to become a statistic if your time off work exceeds industry norms and this can then cause further household and financial stress.

"The pressure to return to work early may have long-term effects on your financial health, which may create serious debt problems requiring debt advice."
