I did horizontal bi-amping, active crossover via the Parasound 2100's 80Hz High Pass.
System is quad-amp with 2 active subwoofers crossover @40Hz

Car with AWD analogy: each wheel gets power independently for more control, just like each speaker driver gets its own channel.
