TRANSCRIPT:

Hey everyone, it’s Michael from Devoted to Vinyl. And this is the final video—the final video, we’ve made it—this is the final video in a six part video series that I created to help you properly set up your turntable, so you can finally begin buying and playing your vinyl records.

[INTRO]

Now if you joined me in the last video, we talked about how you can go about setting up and connecting your speakers.

But in this video, I wanted to focus on how you can go about properly playing your vinyl records.

And so that will be the subject of today’s final video.

Now that the hard work is over, it’s time to enjoy the music.

First, make sure you turn on both your integrated amplifier and your external phono preamp. And if you connected your turntable into the Auxiliary input, hit the Auxiliary or the AUX button instead.

Now if you’re not using an external phono preamp, and instead decided to directly connect your turntable to the PHONO input in the back of your integrated amplifier, then hit the “PHONO” button on the remote.

Next, if you have a dust cover, lift up the lid. Carefully grab your record by its edge and place it down over the spindle and onto your platter.

Now, you can turn on your record player.

Next, we’re going to want to grab a record cleaning brush and place it on top of your spinning record. While the record spins, slowly pull the brush back towards you. Doing this helps remove dust and static from your records, which can often be what causes some of the “pops” and “crackles” you hear when some records are playing.

Next, lift your tonearm and place it down over the first track of the record. When you’re ready to play the music, push the cueing lever down so that your stylus goes into the record groove.

Now, sit back and enjoy your music. But remember to monitor the record player, as well. Because once the final track on Side A of your record finishes, you’re going to need to push your cueing lift lever back up, grab the tonearm and bring it back over to its rest, and turn off the turntable.

So that’s it for this video and this video series. Hopefully you not only found it to be enjoyable to watch, but that you’ve been able to walk away understanding how to properly set up your turntable so that you now can finally begin playing your vinyl records.
