More red clay, it is a pity it doesn’t keep this colour once fired, but I’m still smitten by the effect it creates when reduction fired and coated in a crimson metallic glaze, (such as the example shown in this video).

This bowl is made from some reclaimed stoneware, clay I’ve been setting aside, scraps from the throwing and trimming process mainly together with the stuff I’ve been scraping off my hands as I throw, even that can be collected and added.

Despite the clays grog being somewhat tiresome to work with, there’s only so long you can throw with it before your hands get raw, it certainly makes shapes like this easier to throw due to all particles this clay contains. I know that if I used my usual stoneware or porcelain it wouldn’t hold up like this does, it feels like magic.
