15 Minute Yoga Nidra to Reset the Nervous System | NSDR Power Nap

Relax into this short yoga nidra practice as the sound of calming ocean waves carries you into deep rest. You can think of this practice like a quick and easy power nap. This is an effortless guided meditation technique where you can just relax back and listen.

Yoga nidra is scientifically known as non sleep deep rest. The techniques used here are designed to guide you into the deeper brainwave states we experience when we go to sleep at night, except one remains with an acute sense of awareness still present. It sometimes known as conscious sleep or wakeful sleep. Simultaneously, you move through different states of consciousness to arrive at place where you can experience deep regenerative rest. It is said that just 30 minutes of this practice can be equivalent to 3 hours of deep nourishing sleep. This practice can also be helpful in restoring a nagging sleep deficit.

Yoga nidra is a wonderful tool for calming the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous division of 'rest and digest'. Many of us spend too much time in a sympathetic division of fight or flight and are not getting the sufficient rest we need to balance it out. Over time, this results in a cumulative imbalance of energy and rest. Yoga nidra is a wonderful tool to rebalance this energy by restoring a sleep deficit and allowing you to rest, deeply.

In this short practice, Kristyn Rose guides you through a body scan and breath awareness to let go of the thinking mind and drop into a state of peaceful presence. In this deep state of relaxation, plant the seed of intention or a Sankulpa, to honour moments of deep rest to restore your body, mind, and spirit back to balance.
