Bimen Şen was a Turkish composer and lyricist of Armenian descent, born in 1873 in Bursa, Ottoman Empire (now Turkey), and died on August 26, 1943, in Istanbul. He came from a music-loving family and began singing hymns in an Armenian church at the age of eight. At the age of 14, he was sent to Istanbul by Hacı Ârif Bey, a music lover who was impressed by the beauty of Şen's voice. Bimen Şen is known for his contributions to Turkish classical music and composed more than 200 works, including instrumental pieces and vocal compositions.
