Western Regional Office Laboratory (WROL), Mumbai, one of the 8 laboratories of bureau of Indian standards, has been pivotal in setting the benchmark in product testing and support to bureau’s conformity assessment schemes.

The journey of WROL begins in the year 1964 along Grant Road station, Mumbai, where it functioned in rented premises at Novelty Cinema Building. Subsequently, the lab shifted to another rented premises at Chunabhatti, Sion, Mumbai in 1977. In 1981, it relocated to MIDC, Andheri East, Mumbai in its own building.
