Log Cabin - slide show

Описание к видео Log Cabin - slide show

This is a video journal of a tiny log cabin construction project completed in North Florida in 2020-21 during the height of the COVID pandemic. The building serves as a backyard pool house. It was constructed primarily with storm damaged yellow pine CCA-treated (green colored) utility poles, sourced from a local municipality. Talk about "upcycling" to the N-th degree !

Other materials used in construction included broken / demolition concrete sidewalks for the approach walkways and local limestone for the cabin’s foundation and walkway borders. Storm-downed longleaf pine from Hurricane Michael was collected under permit from the Apalachicola National Forest and milled onsite for the loft flooring. Cypress tongue and groove 1x4 was sourced from a sawmill in Cairo Georgia for the ceiling material. A year 1925 Crane cast-iron claw foot tub was restored as part of this build. A previously used pedestal sink with faucet and a new antique replica high tank (pull-chain) toilet were also part of this build. This was a one-man project with a little help from Dad and some verbal direction from my wife.

The journey is just as important as the result !

This project was documented entirely with an iPhone.
