ACE Series IX Cabcar Fails on Test Run

Well well well...it's back out testing again. Today, September 7, 2024; ACE (Altamont Corridor Express) ran a test train from Stockton, California, U.S.A. to San Jose, California, U.S.A. It's test subject, ACEX3310 , a Bombardier Series IX Cabcar for push/pull service. Objective - Test out overall performance and PTC...and boy was PTC the culprit of today's fail.

When trying to depart San Jose Diridon Station in San Jose, the train crew was having trouble with initializing PTC to operate the train back east. It got to the point where dispatch did not know what to do so they train crew had to speak with customer service, AKA... PTC help desk. Over radio it was quite the entertaining exchange of words lol... But after a couple of hours trying to figure things out, the train crew speaking to their supervisors, it was determine to "limp" the train back to Stockton..supposedly without a "working" cabcar, just shoving the train home. ACEX 3110 (SC-44 Charger) was providing power.

So here's the ACE train crew rolling through Pleasanton very slowly heading home back to Stockton with its goofy K5CA-LS horn.
