Work injury compensation and enhanced representation for platform workers

Under the amended Work Injury Compensation Act, platform operators must provide work injury compensation to platform workers at the same level as employees. This includes reimbursement for medical expenses, income loss compensation during medical and hospitalisation leave, and lump sum compensation for permanent incapacity or death. A legal framework will also be introduced for better representation of platform workers in negotiating and resolving disputes.

Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Manpower Dr Koh Poh Koon was speaking in Parliament on 9th September 2024.
