AWESOME SIMPLE HACK to getting what you want out of MUSIC

Is there a skill that is universally important for all musicians? And if so, what is it? And how can we put it to use?

Is there a quick and easy way to hack the creative process? Or are we doomed to waste a bunch of time lost in the weeds of endless decisions?
