Equipment – a Polymer Clay Blade, a Craft Knife, a small roller and something like a 4mm cable needle (optional). I use a laminated measuring sheet that I downloaded free from www.PrintablePaper.net, but a ruler will do. I work on a large ceramic tile and use biodegradable wet wipes to clean as I go/need.

For any finished piece, I bake on a small tile, with a piece of card under my clay and ‘tent’ the tile in a piece of aluminium foil to protect the clay should the oven spike in temperature. Bake/cure your piece according to the manufacturer’s instructions for the brand of clay you use.

The approximate sizes to match with my pasta machine settings are - settings 9 and 8 are 1 playing card thickness (0.15 and 0.25mm), setting 7 and 6 are 2 cards thick (0.33 and 0.5mm), setting 5 is 3 cards (0.75mm), setting 4, 4 cards (1mm), setting 3 is 5 cards (1.5mm), setting 2 is 6 cards (2mm), setting 1 is 7 cards (2.25mm) and setting 0 is 8 cards (2.5mm) thickness.
