Alternate History V began with the 1955 season but no historic minor leagues were used along with no trades nor injuries but options and waiver claims were used by setting up a fictional AAA level for all teams. Players retire after their final season of historic major league ball, so nobody gets to hang on after their major league career as part of a reserve roster. All teams have the same type of owner and the same financial picture. No coaching, scouting, owner goals, nor morale affects. Three year rating base updated yearly with current season double weighted. No in-season aging nor development. Instead of using the game's expansion draft method I manually assigned the proper players to the expansion teams.

Alternate History V tries to give some answers to theoretical questions like what if no trades had been allowed and what if no player had suffered in-season injuries during a particular campaign.

If the simulation goes very far into the 1970s I also hope to make two other changes. First, both leagues will have the DH (it would be unfair to have both leagues without the DH because many AL pitchers would have no batting ratings). Second, I want to imagine that the court rulings for "Hunter/Messersmith/McNally" will never happen and all players will be pretty much stuck with their original teams like in the 1950s.

**The Brewers topped the Athletics and the Dodgers defeated the Mets in the Alternate History V 1986 league championship series. Pete Rose retired after this season with 4106 AIV hits, placing him third all-time behind Cobb (4189) and Aaron (4108). The real Rose had 4256.
