Sydney Southern Bluefin Bustup

With everyone heading south off Sydney to chase Bluefin, I made the call to work the zero line directly out the front of my local. We had an early take on the Nomad Design Australia lure, and it didn't stick. We then had a 2nd hook up on the same lure with a 7kg Albacore. Next was another hit on the Nomad DTX220 but this time, the rod got pulled out of the rod holder, and luckily, we run lanyards to my reels, and we saved it but lost the fish. 180km of driving and just the 1 Albacore, so as we trolled back into the 200 fathom line, we found birds working. I gave out the marks to fellow fisherman at 4.30pm. Tuna busting up, and we chased them around for 20 min and then a double hook up. 1 stuck. 1 hr later and heaps of drag pressure later, we had the fish in harpoon range. 85kg fish on the deck. It was a dark ride back in.
2024, has turned out to be an amazing year not only for the solid marlin season (our PB blue est170kg) and our PB Yellowfin (70kg) we had off Sydney but now the Bluefin tuna (85kg). We missed the bluefin last year, but this year we have been blessed with good numbers and sizes.
