The 'Indian 2' shoot at the Chennai airport stopped midway; no proper permission was obtained.
After wrapping up the abroad schedule, Kamal Haasan is now shooting in Chennai for his film 'Indian 2'. The movie shooting was stopped midway by the Chennai airport officials as required permissions were not obtained. Kamal Hassan is currently shooting for the Tamil film 'Indian 2," directed by Shankar. The film went on floors last year, and the movie's shooting is in full swing. While the shooting for the movie has almost been completed, the final schedule is currently happening in Chennai. According to news reports, the film was abruptly asked to stop shooting at the airport by the officials as there was no proper permission. News reports suggest that the production house had earlier obtained permission to shoot in the required spots of the Chennai airport and reportedly paid a fee of Rs 1.24 crore, including GST, to the airport management. 'Indian 2' is a sequel to the Tamil cult classic 'Indian," which was released in 1996. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. The music for the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and the film is expected to release in theatres this year. Kamal Haasan is currently busy with his upcoming film Indian 2, one of the most-awaited ventures of the year. The Shankar directorial went on floors last year and is currently completing its schedule at a brisk pace. While most of the shooting of the film has been finished, the final schedule of the film is currently happening in Chennai. However, according to media reports, the shooting of the film was abruptly halted at the airport in the city by the officials. Reportedly, the team did not have the proper permission.
Parts of the film sequences are said to be shot at the Chennai airport near the departure area and permission for the same has been only obtained. But the film’s crew wanted to shoot a scene at the lavatory area of the airport for which permission was not granted by the authorities.
The media report also suggested that the production house had earlier acquired permission to shoot in the required spots of the Chennai airport and has reportedly paid Rs 1.24 crore including GST to the airport management.
It is worth noting that the film was announced back in 2017 and this is not the first when the team had to stop shooting. In February 2020, an accident on the sets involving a crane resulted in the deaths of a few crew members leading the shooting to stop for a brief period. Since, the shooting got delayed due to various reasons from the COVID-19 pandemic, cost overruns to legal issues. The film again formally resumed its shooting in August, last year.
Indian 2 is a sequel to Kamal Hasaan starrer Indian which was released in 1996. Apart from Kamal Haasan, the film has a stellar star cast including Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the pivotal roles. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The team is aiming to release the film in the theatres this year.
