Welcome to my basement! In this episode we will have a look at the Wyse WY-30 and how to hook it up to a Raspberry Pi to see if it still can be usefull in 2024.

How to make a Null modem cable:

Once linux is installed you will have to fire up:
sudo raspi-config
Then enable serial:
interface options - serial port - Would you like the shell to be accessible over serial - YES
Then you need to configure agetty to target the screen you have:
sudo vi /lib/systemd/system/[email protected]
You want to change the line that starts with: ExecStart. Here you will have change the parameters so that agetty uses the baud rate that your terminal is setup with and also replace %TERM% with the name of the terminal to emulate. I used wy30 since I had a wy30 terminal.
