Martineztown Memory Wall

Описание к видео Martineztown Memory Wall

The Martineztown community in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico, has sought to preserve it's heritage in a variety of ways, including this gallery of photographs which many different families have contributed to. It is a community which traces it's history to the early 19th century as an outlying farming center when an irrigation system extended to the valley's edge or the sand hills. In the 1880's the railroad was located at it's western edge. The community has retained a sense of itself as a village in the shadows of the metropolitan center during the last century of diverse forms of economic development. This is part of an oral history project about the barrio martineztown. See www.videostoriesnm.com/martineztownvoices.html
