This is a special video about the akhara's in Varanasi. Ever since I came here for the first time I heard stories of the decline in interest and funding for the akhara's. The government is not pushing them, and the youth is not interested. Last year I visited Varanasi again and I could feel that something had shifted. The popularity of these tools is back and the youth is being interested again. That is a great thing. I had the pleasure and honour of being able to interview the guru ji of Swaminathan Akhara, a well respected man, and ask him about the recent upgrades of the akhara. There's new paintings, new tools, and a new rope climbing spot.
