Please wait until the engine has cooled completely before changing the engine coolant temperature sensor.
The dealer recommend that you drain the engine coolant. They are the experts so follow there advice.

I decided not to drain the coolant. Once I removed the electrical connector from the sensor and the retaining clip. It took me about 1 minute to complete the job. Didn't lose much coolant.
