Hello, and welcome to one of those spotting on location/spotting compilation videos that I don't do anymore (Well, I do, just not often).

So, welcome back to the old stomping ground of South Yorkshire. It's Saturday the 9th of July 2022, and what does that mean? Well, it's an interesting time. All TransPennine Express services from Sheffield this weekend are going via the Dearne Valley, Crofton, Wakefield Kirkgate, Horbury, Healey Mills and Huddersfield en route to Manchester Piccadilly. This is due to Hope Valley upgrades being done south of Sheffield, and thus nothing at the weekends is running via the Hope Valley. Also today is engineering work on the Midland Main Line, blocking the line towards Chesterfield and Derby, meaning that no trains are actually heading south of Sheffield, so Cross Country are running amended diagrams terminating in the steel city.

We open up not with diverts, but a railtour. Branch Line Society has got a tour running out of Doncaster, headed by a Freightliner Class 70 (70016) and FL Class 66 (66955), and tailed by a DB Cargo Class 66 (66010). We see the tour arrive, be interrupted by a Class 180 screaming down the fast, then set off in true Class 70 fashion; lots of smoke and that loud motor scream.

We then find ourselves at Moorthorpe; the butt end of South Yorkshire Connect Plus territory on the Dearne Valley line. Here we see Class 185s, both types of XC Voyager, Class 158s and, of course, a HST set, this set being XC02 headed by 43303 and tailed by repainted 43184.

We scuttle up to Bolton-Upon-Dearne quickly for just a single clip: pair of voyagers heading west towards Sheffield, before 43184 and 43303 round the corner heading back to Edinburgh, before returning to Moorthorpe for further unit photting and DB Cargo 66106.

Finally, we head up to Swinton (South Yorkshire), where we see a Northern Class 170 depart with an amended service to Scarborough; calling at all stations between Sheffield and Doncaster rather than running fast between Meadowhall and Doncaster. We see a further 185 and voyager before rounding out the video with 6G41, an engineering train that's come from Tapton Junction and headed for Doncaster Decoy, which has GBRf Class 66 'Shed' 66773 "Pride of GB Railfreight" at the helm.
