STEM Career Program (SCP) is a joint venture of Higher Education Commission (HEC) & Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Science (PIEAS). It has two fold Mission:

1) To inspire youth of the Nation to opt for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and preparing them for participation in the annual International Olympiad in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

2) To encourage engineering students to come up with innovative solutions to problems of national interest preferably related to local industry and R & D.

National Science Talent Contest (NSTC) strives to address the first part of the mission, and National Engineering Competition (NEC) address the second part of the mission.
The following are the Home Institutes for grooming selected students in their respective subjects.

1. National Institute of Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Faisalabad for Biology
2. H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, Karachi University for Chemistry.
3. School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS), G.C.U. Lahore for Mathematics.
4. Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PlEAS) for Physics
