Display Basing 101: Painting grimdark cities of sigmar without oils?

Описание к видео Display Basing 101: Painting grimdark cities of sigmar without oils?

For the mini of the month for May, i wanted to do something special with a freeguild Steelhelm from the cities of Sigmar, I picked this guy up form my local shop of the day of release and have been powering though him to get this video out in a timely manner. Heavily drawing inspiration from lutherian_99 and his fantastic Amberfall project, i was trying to match his grimdark painting without using oils or inks, i think i’m on the right track, just not quite there yet!

Everyone kinda already has this mini and there wasn't much hype around it so I wanted to do something special with it and walk you through the basics considerations that I have when I'm making a display base. How elements interact as well as just setting some good rules for how to do it working with 3 levels, the base, the texture and the finishing. If you keep this in mind you’ll be when on your way to display painting. Display painting isn’t about perfect painting, it's about setting the scene and telling your story!

Taro Plinths (this is a 30mm plinth) https://www.taromodelmaker.com/collec...
If you a bit on the fence about plinths, then you can get wooden ones, I recommend using dowel, i’ve used this place in the past, for the steel rook just check the diameters! https://www.toolsandtimber.co.uk/timb...

The painting for this is done using scale 75 acrylics and the colours are more about tones and feel we are going for, but if you want the exact colorus and what you could replace with there is a list below here
Burnt umber (think Rhinox hide)
Yellow Ochre (think xv-88)
Vanilla white (ice yellow)
Primary red (think mephiston red)
Yellow (flash gitz)
Dark Prussian blue (Kantor Blue + black)
Bugmans and Cadian for the dark for the flesh tones
