3D Vortex Shape in Illustrator - Spiral a Pattern to a Cone *READ description for 2023 Instructions

*In the new Illustrator use Effect - 3D and Materials - 3D (Classic) to find the tools used in this video*
Learn to make a 3D vortex shape in Illustrator. In this design the pattern looks like it is being sucked into the vortex that you will create using the 3D tools in Illustrator. You will create the pattern and then map it to your 3D rendering.
Start by creating the pattern which is created at an angle so it will wrap to make a spiral. The pattern is created as an Illustrator symbol as that is how you can map designs to 3D shapes. Then you will create a basic shape and rotate it in 3D to make the 3D cone that the pattern will be mapped onto.
