Huawei AITO M5 in-depth Walkaround

The AITO M5 is a technologically advanced compact crossover SUV, born from the collaboration between Seres and tech giant Huawei. It offers buyers flexible powertrain options, available as either a pure electric vehicle (EV) or a range-extended electric vehicle (EREV) that uses a gasoline engine to generate electricity for its motors. This strategic partnership is most evident in its core systems, which are powered by Huawei's innovative HarmonyOS smart cockpit and the integrated Huawei DriveONE electrical platform.

In terms of performance, the M5 delivers impressive power and efficiency tailored to each configuration. The flagship all-wheel-drive EREV model produces a robust 496 horsepower, achieving 0-100 km/h in a brisk 4.4 seconds, while the rear-wheel-drive version offers 272 horsepower with a 7.1-second acceleration time. Its range is equally notable, with EREV variants capable of over 1,200 km on a full charge and tank, and pure EV models offering more than 500 km of CLTC-rated range.

The vehicle’s intelligence extends beyond its infotainment, featuring a sophisticated driver-assistance system. Newer models are equipped with a comprehensive sensor suite including LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar, and cameras, enabling high-level automated functions.
