Following my Kiev 88CM vs Hasselblad Review (ARAX-CM, similar to the Hartblei Kiev-88CM) I consider cheap TLR cameras and 6x6 folding cameras. Budget medium format cameras are often 6x6 so a cheap 6x6 film camera is easier to find than say 6x7 format. My best vintage 6x6 folding camera is the Voigtlander Perkeo 2 but the Voigtlander Perkeo 1 6x6 is cheaper. For a budget TLR camera don't look at Rolleiflex or Rolleicord but some of the less popular affordable twin reflex lens cameras. Yashica TLR can be good value and some of the smaller brands too. My Kiev Arax camera has been a lot of fun but now I use the simple low cost medium format cameras more - the old folding cameras for travel or cheap twin lens reflex for other things. That said I still find 6x6 SLR cameras easier for portraits - WYSIWYG.
