This week I took a high level look at how to start thinking about mixing lofi tracks. I think everything I talk about in this video is applicable to mixing any type of music, especially since it was all fairly big-picture stuff. I made this video because someone in the comments requested a tutorial on how to mix and master lofi beats (but I want to save the mastering for another video entirely), so let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything you want to see me cover in a future video! I'm happy to talk about just about anything you want to know.

Here's a quick summary of the takeaway points I made in this video:

THE MOST IMPORTANT piece of advice I can offer for mixing is to mix WHILE you make the song. It's so much easier to get a well-mixed song if you're thinking about the final mix while making it.

Think about every component of your track as a puzzle piece - everything should be serving a purpose to fill a space in the rhythm, stereo field, or frequency spectrum.

Use leveling to push certain elements to the foreground of your song, and use automation to make that a dynamic process.
