Pirl Charger test & teardown (4x 2.7A 5V USB)

This is a detailed teardown of the amazing Pirl Charger with 4 USB ports, 2.7A per port, 10.8A total. Each port is individually regulated using a DC/DC synchronous buck regulator with independent overload protection, short circuit protection and overheat protection. Each port also has a red/white LED indicator. The Pirl charger is unique for its integrated Wattmeter showing the total power consumed in Watts on an LED display with an adjustable brightness. The input voltage is 7-17V and it can work with an AC/DC mains power supply, a car adaptor, solar panels, 2S/3S/4S Li-Ion battery packs or 12V lead acid batteries.
