There has been a resurgence of the work of Stephen Sondheim this season as New York audiences are treated to revivals of Follies, Passion, Into the Woods and the cult favorite Merrily We Roll Along. Encores! kicks off its 2012-2013 season with a new Merrily, directed by longtime Sondheim collaborator James Lapine. The musical, which features a book by George Furth and music and lyrics by Sondheim, focuses on three friends and their musical ambitions. On January 27, the show's three stars Colin Donnell, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Celia Keenan-Bolger previewed the catchy tune "Old Friends."
