SUP ADVENTURE - DAY 1 - Dorset trip! Lulworth Cove, Stair Hole, Durdle Door and more!

Описание к видео SUP ADVENTURE - DAY 1 - Dorset trip! Lulworth Cove, Stair Hole, Durdle Door and more!

After a 12 hr shift each on Wednesday we decided to drive through the night from Eastbourne to Lulworth Cove in Dorset.
6am and greeted us with a beautiful sunrise, a glass like ocean and an empty carpark… we decided to have a little recce over into Stair Hole to see what we were getting ourselves into after leaving the safety of the cove, it was safe to say “Its now or never” and get the boards inflated and at least paddle the cove. This was absolutely lovely and a good starting point to get out SUP sea legs into action!
Reaching the opening of the Cove and staring out to the vast ocean beyond the nose of our now smaller feeling SUP boards.
Sunny but very white and difficult to tell the fog above from the horizon in the distance and slightly choppier water now than in the calm cove. We decided it was now or never and made a dash for Stair Hole.
We explored that admiring the rock formations, the entry with it’s little secret beach and it’s fun exit through the tunnel like cave.
After this thrilling start we headed along to St Oswalds Bay (it’s difficult to get there by foot so rather empty) and had a military ration pack each for lunch. Heated ip in a Jetboil, I had Chicken Sausage and beans and Karen had a nice Mexican Chilli which I was more than happy to finish off 😉
Stomachs full and ready for the next phase of this adventure… we were back on our boards and headed for the surprise approach on the famous and grand… Durdle Door!
It was a mammoth structure that we couldn’tsee until we were right there.
What a sight approaching that from the sea!
After having a little play there, we decided we could make it to Bats Hole further on and that would be the turnaround point.
That was fun. The large submerged rock, just before Bats Hole created some very fun and peculiar circular waves which were big, on a very calm ocean.
After this we did turn around. Making sure to still have fun on the way back, trying not to fall off the boards with the waves left by the passing boats.
Once back in the safety and now much busier cove, we anchored up on some rocks and literally fell asleep 😴
There’s a rumour that Karen could be heard snoring as far away as Wareham… where the next ADVENTURE begins!!

Hope you enjoy this video and look out for Part 2 x
