Are you worried about falling victim to a pension scam?

A pension scam is where someone tries to con you out of the money in your pension pot. Scammers are getting better at disguising themselves, but don't worry, I’ve got you covered with some tips on how to spot a pension scam.

Tip number one, don't trust unsolicited phone calls. Scammers often use high-pressure tactics to get you to invest in their scheme. If someone calls you out of the blue about your pension, the call is illegal and likely to be a fraudster - so if you receive an unsolicited phone call, hang up immediately and alert the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Tip number two, be wary of phishing emails. Scammers often use emails that look like they're from legitimate companies to get you to reveal personal information.

Tip number three, do your research. Check the Financial Conduct Authority's website to see if the company is legitimate and don't invest until you're sure.

Tip number four, be careful with social media ads. Scammers often use social media to promote their schemes, so be cautious of ads promising too-good-to-be-true investment opportunities.
