Lego Racers (Nintendo 64) Walkthrough

Описание к видео Lego Racers (Nintendo 64) Walkthrough

And the final main version of Lego Racers has been acquired and walkthroughed. And yes, you read correctly; I now own a Nintendo 64. That came about because I was at a retro gaming convention a few weeks back; there were a ton of vendor booths there for used game resellers, and I figured it was the perfect opportunity to make good on one of my unfulfilled childhood dreams -- owning a Nintendo 64. So, I went around all the booths until I found a decent deal on one, and so it was done. I then picked up a copy of this game, alongside a Controller Pak so I could save. The results are what you see here!

What do I think of this version? Well, many of you likely remember I don't hold the PS1 version in high regard; I am pleased to say this one is a vast improvement. The input lag issue is not here, so that's a big plus already. It's also very close to the PC version in terms of visuals, as it now has the smoother textures and decent lighting. Overall, I'd say this is a very solid effort; I approve! The only real downside is the fact that this one has the lowest resolution of any of the versions, at 320x240 (vs. 640x240 on the PS1 version and 640x480 on PC), leading to a ton of aliasing which can be a bit hard on the eyes. The other loss here I found is that this doesn't have any of the alternate music tracks for single races or time trials for...whatever reason. Overall though, while the PC version is still the best one, this one isn't too shabby either.

You probably know the drill by this point. All circuits, then all time trials. I didn't even bother recreating the boss characters this time, I just mixed the body pieces randomly, and had no formula to which quick build I went with.

I don't have a whole lot to say. Most of the circuits were pretty straightforward fare, and I believe I came in first on every track except for one.

Far as the time races went, I edited out all my failed attempts. I still hate Adventure Temple Trail's guts, but I had a lot less trouble on it this time. Still, so much for "I hope I never have to do this again". Oh, and at the end, I decided to show off every minifigure and car piece available, and took Veronica Voltage on a test drive; I apologize for mistakenly picking the wrong driver twice. I had intended on editing that out but forgot until after rendering the video.

Hope you enjoy the walkthrough!
