Zbrush Fibermesh to Maya Nhair/Xgen Guides

Описание к видео Zbrush Fibermesh to Maya Nhair/Xgen Guides

I show you, how to export Fibermesh from Zbrush 2021 as Curves, and transform it to Xgen Guides, as well as assigning Maya nHair to it.
While you usually see Xgen being used to create Hair inside of Maya, nHair offers some unique benefits, especially for artists who like to have
as much control over the final look as possible, since it delivers very reliable results, staying close to the shape of the Fibermesh groom, while
offering several attributes, that let you tweak amount of Hairs per clump (Fiber curve), the clump width, curl and noise displacement, just to name a few.
For the shading an aiStandardHair shader can be applied for realistic results.

A quick guide to setup your nHair:

1) Create cube (or select any mesh)

2) Switch your Maya mode from 'Modeling' to 'FX'

3) With your cube/object selected go to 'nHair' - 'Create Hair' with the output set to 'Paint effects'

4) You can now delete the cube, as well as the follicle created. Make sure to NOT delete the created 'HairSystem', 'Nucleus' and 'pfxHair'

5) Now select your curves and go 'nHair' - 'Assign Hair System'. This might take a minute depending on the number of curves

6) Now you can tweak the Hair system settings in the attribute editor. To assign a new Hair material go to the 'Arnold' tab and check 'Override Hair' and
plugin, for example, an aiStandardHair

Fibermesh to Xgen guides:

1) Import your Curves in Maya

2) Create a new xgen Description

3) Go to the 'Utilities' tab and select ' Curves to Guides'. You know have guides you can further tweak.
