Описание к видео The BRUTAL Execution Of William Lord Hastings

The Wars of the Roses were a brutal time in which there was civil war and much conflict across England in which the House of York and the House of Lancaster fought for the crown. Both sides would fight in many different battles, and the monarchy changed a few times during this period. William, Lord Hastings was a key member of the House of York and he was a key ally to Edward IV.

King Edward IV and Hastings had a very close friendship formed over a number of years, and when Edward became King, William Hastings was rewarded with vast amounts of land and also titles and wealth. He fought alongside the King at the Battle of Mortimer Cross and also the bloody Battle of Towton which is considered the most bloody battle ever to have occurred on English soil. Hastings was also given permission to build castles in his land, and he built Ashby de la Zouch Castle and Kirby Muxloe Castle, with both of these becoming incredibly strong defensive castles. The King would have loved to have visited these amazing strongholds and houses.

However Hastings' downfall came when Edward IV died, and following this his son Edward V was named the successor. However Edward V would never be crowned famously disappearing alongside his brother in the 'Princes in the Tower' mystery that has plagued English History for years. Richard III took control of the young boys, and then they mysteriously vanished. Richard III however would be the man who would order the execution of Lord Hastings.

Following a meeting at the Tower of London, Richard angrily lost control and accused Hastings of treason and planning to kill him. Following this, William Hastings was rapidly dragged out of the Tower of London and beheaded in brutal fashion on Tower Green, the same place where Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard would lose their heads.
