Plop & Drop vs Drip Acclimation: The Ultimate Guide to Acclimating Freshwater Fish and Inverts

In this video, we cover one of the most important processes in fishkeeping - acclimating new fish and invertebrates to your home aquarium. Many fish enthusiasts can't wait to add new fish to their tanks, but it's crucial to take the time to properly acclimate them to their new environment. Rushing this process can result in stress, illness, or even death for your new fish.

We'll walk you through two popular methods of acclimation: the Plop & Drop method and the Drip method. We'll explain when to use each method and why the Drip method is best suited for shrimp while the Plop & Drop method is more suitable for fish.

Our aim is to help you create a healthy environment for your new aquatic pets and ensure that they thrive in their new home. We recently bought a ton of new fish buddies from our Local Fish Store (LFS) and will use them to demonstrate the acclimation process step by step.
