It was a little over 3 years ago since I posted my first piano cover of this song, "Time" composed by Hans Zimmer from Christopher Nolan's film "Inception". It somehow continued to grow in popularity and has pretty much always been the most viewed music cover on my channel (over half a million views now!), so...much thanks and much appreciated for all of the support I've been receiving there!

In this video, I revisit this nostalgic and special piece. Special not only because it was one of my first video uploads on this channel, but also because the original soundtrack is one of my all-time favourites for contemporary film scores. Of the thousands of times I've listened to Zimmer's original track, it still doesn't get dull. Every time I sit down (or lie down) listening to this, I can't help but to contemplate. It is one of those few examples of how simplicity can be executed and displayed in such an emphatic style. It can be calming and soothing but can still be left hanging with the feeling of uncertainty, not knowing exactly what is being felt. The subtle yet intensifying crescendo of the piece can be uplifting but can also feel foreshadowing. The pallet of emotions during the experience is boundless and ultimately puts one in a state of mind that can't possibly be described by words alone. But in the end, it is still utterly pleasing to listen to. All of this happening in the piece...all those feels...and yet it only consists of 5 chords, repeated in the same alternating four chord progression from beginning to end. Simplicity at its finest.

At least, that's what I think.

I've also titled it "Piano Improvisation #1" because I do plan on recording more improvisations of this piece further down the road. It would be interesting to look back and see/listen to the different ways I've improvised this song, sometime in the future.

Hope you all enjoy this :)
