The Arizona handyman license also known as the R-62 Minor Home Improvements license is allows you to engage in remodel projects that are minor or casual in nature.

Remodeling, repairs, and improvements to existing structures or appurtenances.

Contractor shall not perform structural work to any existing structures or appurtenances, including load bearing masonry or concrete work (with the exception of on-grade flat work), and load bearing carpentry work (with the exception of patio or porch covers)

Any work related to electrical, plumbing, air conditioning systems, and boilers must be subcontracted to an appropriately licensed contractor

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AROC) is the governing agency for contractors in the state of Arizona

You will first need to meet the basic Arizona contractor’s license requirements:

-18 years of age
-Driver’s License or USA ID
-Social Security
-Not Currently on Probation or Parole
-Be a legal business entity

In addition to these basic requirements. To get the Arizona handyman license you may need to prove some experience. To get licensed and bonded in Arizona you may also need someone to sign off on this experience.

The Arizona registrar of contractor’s main responsibility is to protect the consumer public from contractors who may not have the experience or safety knowledge required.

The entire process to get an AZ contractor license fluctuates on a variety of different factors. In some cases, it can take up to 6 months.

The best way to ensure that you get your Arizona contractor license quickly is to have all of your documentation in order before you submit the application.

If you have a criminal record, you will want to make sure that all of your court documents are in order.

If you have worked under the table, try to get any proof of experience that you can. This can be check stubs, tax returns, receipts, invoices anything that can show you have worked in construction.
