Lee Boxell, a 15-year-old from Cheam, Sutton, vanished on September 10, 1988, under mysterious circumstances. On the day of his disappearance, Lee met a friend in Sutton High Street for shopping. The last confirmed sighting of him was at approximately 2:20 PM outside a shop on Sutton High Street.

One of the initial theories was that Lee might have gone to Selhurst Park to watch a football match. However, the timing of his last sighting made this unlikely. In 2012, new information emerged that Lee had attended an unofficial youth club at St Dunstan's Church in Cheam, known as "The Shed," a place that later investigations revealed was frequented by paedophiles. William Lambert, the graveyard digger who ran The Shed, was jailed in 2011 for sexually abusing four girls who attended the club.

Following this discovery, the Metropolitan Police undertook extensive excavations in the St Dunstan's graveyard in search of Lee's remains, but nothing was found. In 2013, on what would have been Lee's 40th birthday, the case was again featured on Crimewatch with the theory that Lee might have witnessed or tried to intervene in a sexual assault at The Shed and was possibly killed as a result.

There were also links suggested between Lee's disappearance and Brian Lunn Field, a convicted paedophile and murderer. Despite various investigations and a substantial reward offered for information leading to Lee's remains, his disappearance remains unsolved, leaving his family seeking closure. The police continue to appeal for information, hoping that someone will come forward with new evidence.

This case remains one of the most baffling and heart-wrenching unsolved mysteries in the UK, with Lee's family and the community still seeking answers decades later.
