Looking merely at elevation, the Scandinavian mountains aren't particularly impressive. Maybe that’s just as well – because this isn't the kind of territory where you'll travel half way up to the summit by train. At times, you’ll have to walk for days just to reach the foot of the mountain. The weather changes quickly, and the nearest shelter can be hours away. Many wanderers have trekked through these landscapes for days without getting even a glimpse of the sun.

At Haglöfs, when we talk about adapting to Nordic conditions, we put the emphasis on creating outdoor wear that can be trusted – no matter what happens. For hiking long distances, in a short time, our focus lays on combining minimum weight with maximum function. The lighter the load you carry, the longer your stamina will take you. That's why, in the L.I.M series, we look at everything like construction of seams, cuffs, pockets, reinforcements and all other details as closely as we examine the actual materials and fabrics.

The basic concept is simple. We removed everything unnecessary, and kept what was needed. It might sound easy, but it’s not. We sketch and try out, compare, evaluate, test, redo and start from scratch – over and over again. What material weighs as little as possible without sacrificing durability, flexibility, waterproofing and packability? How thin can you make a membrane without compromising its other qualities? There's always a smarter way of constructing something, but it’s never obvious. And at this point, this is as light as we can go.

Some twenty years ago, Haglöfs L.I.M changed the lightweight trekking game. Even today, we break new ground every season. We're particularly proud of how this is the first time in seven years that we've made a complete collection, including shoes and backpacks. This year's L.I.M collection features lightweight outer layers, rain jackets and pants, a number of insulating mid layers with different specs and properties, base layers and tights, as well as footwear and backpacks. The backpacks in particular are something we're truly proud of, since that's where it all started back in 1914.
