Leopard 2: Stepping Stone to Leo 3.0

For over 40 years, the Leopard 2-series tanks have been the face and pride of German military engineering and a benchmark for international tank design. And now, the Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 is all but a stepping stone to Leopard 3.

This revolutionary Tier IV MBT is coming to MWT: Tank Battles in the next Event Activity, and it’s time to go in for a closer look!


Although the Leopard is a German icon at heart, the A-RC 3.0 is a child of both German and French engineering. Nowhere is that partnership more obvious than in its main armament: the French-designed ASCALON cannon — a monstrous 140 mm gun.

Developer's Note: While the real Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 can be equipped with either the French ASCALON or the German Rheinmetall NPz K-140, the in-game version specifically features the NPz K-140 cannon.

XMH140 HEATFS — This is your starter round but it’s no slouch: 14k base damage, 4.9k explosion and module damage, and 866 armor penetration.
XME140 HEI — A sidegrade round maximizing explosive and incendiary firepower at the cost of armor pen.
XM1401E APFSDS — One of the strongest darts in the game, dealing 13k base and 3.2k module damage, penetrating up to 950 mm of armor.
Much of the modern combat comes down to the first shot potential, and that’s where you get to use the Spike NLOS missiles — dealing over 14k damage, these are ideal for doubling down on your killshots against heavy armor. Just keep in mind they travel much slower than your regular round, so be sure to time them well between your shots!


Hard to hit and hard to stop, the A-RC 3.0 comes with an unmanned turret, reducing damage dealt to the compartment by 50%. To survive in the age of top-attack missiles and drones, the MBT also gets layered roof armor, active protection system, and a top-mounted 30 mm autocannon to seal the deal.

The good thing is that all that firepower and armor leave it a pretty mobile vehicle, easily reaching 70 km/h for flanking and daring maneuvers.
