Whenever a webmaster think about making a website, very first thought which sturck his or her mind is about the domain name. Every webmaster go through the dilemma of selection of domain name, whether to go for BRAND name or should choose keyword rich domain. Usually those webmasters who are plannig to flip website in future or who are developing sites for short term goals, tend to choose keyword rich domains but those people who are willing to go for long term plans and want to work along with their site for long time, always opt for Brandable names, so that people should get familiar with their brand name and they get benefited with that reputation in long term.

But there is always a great dilemma, that whether one should select brandable name or should go for keyword rich domain name. As both have thier set of advantages and benefits. Keyword rich domains give better ranking at search engines thus will be providing more SEO value while brandable name provide options of mouth to mouth promotion as well as branded domains tend to get more visitors and are usually easier to remember.

Recently it was noticed that Google search rankings were showing various branded online business having top rankings on SERP, no matter how much SEO. has been done with the sites. Thus google has been prefering brand names more than keyword rich domains. Though, this has not been confirmed from google staff and their only target is to provide quality results to end users, by eliminating spammers, black hat web masters, gamers sites and autoblogs. For the same reason, they are adopting more and more ideas and are changing their algorithm by adding more novel signals.

Google's Anti Spam specialist Matt Cutts had recently explained it in a video that google is constantly testing and mixing up new and old signals in their algorithm and evaluating its impact on websites.

Traditionally, google ranking used to be using signals like on-page optimization, anchor text for link, domain names, meta tags and meta descriptions in order to assess the relevancy of a website for a particular top ranking on SERP. But recently, google is giving more weight to other signals such as link authority, page rank and keyword-rich domains, other than that branding, reviews, personalization and social networking are improtant factors these days to get top positions in the SERP, as these parameters are having strong impact on ranking.

As google is going to keep mixing more and more signals in old algorithms, from other data sources, this will change the fate of Traditional Serach Engine Optimization completely, and signals like on-page optimization, link anchor text and domain names will be losing their impact on search engine ranking.
