Korea's opposition parties are moving forward with their motion to impeach President Park Geun-hye in relation to the abuse of power scandal -- and they have growing support from the ruling Saenuri Party.
Floor leader Woo Sang-ho of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea said Thursday that the impeachment motion will be ready for a vote by the full assembly next week.
The minor opposition People's Party called on the other three main parties to join it in forming a coalition that would work on the impeachment motion.
To pass, the motion must be supported by two-thirds of the National Assembly, or 200 votes, so the opposition bloc, which holds 171 seats, will need at least 29 Saenuri lawmakers to support it, too.
Thirty-two Saenuri lawmakers have said they will vote for the motion.
