I like to use a carbide scraper alone and in conjunction with a chemical finish remover to quickly and efficiently remove the finish from a piece of furniture.

For flat surfaces the 2 1/2” is perfect. I use the 1” for small details areas.

The key is to keep the blade flat so you don’t gouge the wood. Keeping the blade sharp also allows you to use minimal pressure for quick removal.
